The Roncalli Royals lost against the Plainfield Quakers back in December of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Roncalli received a tough blow as they fell 59-45 to Plainfield.
Several Royals players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elliot Leffler, who scored nine points along with six rebounds. Claire Lindsey was another key contributor, scoring five points along with ten rebounds and five assists.
Plainfield was led to victory by Payton Benge and Hannah Menser. Benge scored 18 points along with seven rebounds, while Menser scored 24 points along with five rebounds. The game was Menser's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Berkeley Williams, who scored nine points.
Roncalli's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 10-5. As for Plainfield, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-3.
Roncalli and Greensburg will round out the year against one another at 5:30 p.m. on Friday at. Greensburg has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 538 points over their last eight games. Plainfield will finish 2023 at home by hosting Zionsville at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Zionsville presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Plainfield in Indiana (Zionsville is ranked sixth, while Plainfield is ranked 40th).
