Westwood has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Sebring Blue Streaks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Westwood strolled past Boca Raton with points to spare, taking the game 26-7.
Todd Jackson was a one-man wrecking crew for Westwood as he rushed for 143 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. Jackson's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. Westwood also got a significant boost from Braylon Vincent, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 80 yards.
Meanwhile, Sebring stacked a sixth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. Everything went their way against Central as Sebring made off with a 31-7 victory. Sebring pushed the score to 28-7 by the end of the third, a deficit Central had little chance of recovering from.
Sebring got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Travis Kerney out in front who rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, and also threw for 112 yards and a touchdown while completing 77.8% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Dyveon Collymore, who gained 141 total yards and two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Sebring's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. In that department, Leon Harris was the leader with two sacks.
Westwood's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Sebring, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Westwood took a serious blow against Sebring when the teams last played back in October, falling 30-3. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Sebring's Kerney, who rushed for 121 yards and three touchdowns. Now that Westwood knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
