The team relied heavily on Brooklyn Baker, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 11 contests. Mackenzie Nees was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Homestead typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Carroll proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Spartans, sneaking past 4-2.
Taylor Danley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run.
In other batting news, Lauren Kirkpatrick was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI.
Carroll's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, their record is now 12-7.
Both Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger and Carroll just can't seem to miss. The Saints have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Carroll struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger suffered a grim 20-5 defeat to Carroll in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Saints avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
