Kensington Lakes - West recap Sept. 26, 2012
Grand Blanc was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to second in Kensington Lakes - West. Earlier in the week, the Bobcats defeated Howell 27-17.
The Highlanders moved up to 160 from 219 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Howell climbed the ranks as a result of a 27-17 win over Howell.
Vincent Patritto was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 119 yards on 19 carries as Aaron Metz's team beat Pinckney. Zeb Garza also contributed to the rushing game with 30 yards on the ground.
Buck West put up the best numbers through the air as the Pirates fell to the Eagles. He finished with a total of 16 completions for 169 yards and one touchdown. West's favorite target this week was Bobby Thomson, who caught eight passes for 85 yards.
Zach Seiler made the biggest impact on defense this week as Pinckney lost to Hartland. The 6-foot-5 senior grabbed one sack.
Stephen Milarch provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Brian Savage's team bested Jakob Gailitis's team. He completed five passes for 132 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 75 yards. Milarch's favorite target this week was Gigliotti, who caught two passes for 92 yards.
The Pirates' West and Thomson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Kensington Lakes - West in both passing and receiving yards. West has thrown for 732 yards this season, while Thomson, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 14 catches for 205 yards. The Highlanders' Patritto leads the league in rushing yards with 434.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Hartland takes on second place Grand Blanc. The Eagles topped Pinckney last week, while Grand Blanc defeated Howell.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Hartland takes on Brighton. The Eagles' offense has recorded 148 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while the Bulldogs have permitted only 173 on the year.
Hartland extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Pirates, 19-7. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Eagles.
