The John Jay Wolves will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Greeley Quakers at 6:00 p.m. John Jay will be strutting in after a win while Greeley will be coming in after a defeat.
John Jay had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 28-17 win over Clarkstown North on Friday. Given John Jay's advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 156th, while Clarkstown North is ranked 313th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tommy Machado had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, and also threw for 187 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Luca Duva, who gained 88 total yards and two touchdowns.
John Jay's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Austin Omin and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Greeley fell victim to Brewster's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Bears, falling 29-0. Greeley just can't catch a break and has now endured five defeats in a row.
John Jay's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Greeley, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Everything came up roses for John Jay against Greeley when the teams last played back in April of 2021 as the team secured a 44-14 victory. Does John Jay have another victory up their sleeve, or will Greeley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
