The Sioux County Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They lost to Hay Springs at home by a decisive 63-45 margin. Sioux County has struggled against Hay Springs recently, as their game on Thursday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Sioux County had strong showings from Shane Gluth, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds, and Josh Perez, who scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Gluth scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Monroe, who scored five points along with three steals.
It was another big night for Dylan Young, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds for Hay Springs. Young has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Gage Mintken, who scored 11 points.
Sioux County has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Hay Springs, their victory bumped their record up to 12-3.
Sioux County will head out on the road to take on Morrill at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Pittman Ashwin and William Skavdahl. As for Hay Springs, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Edgemont at 3:15 p.m. on January 26th. Edgemont is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
