Van Wert has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Kenton Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, Van Wert suffered a tough 47-23 defeat at the hands of the Indians. While losing is never fun, Van Wert can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 575th, while the Indians are ranked 109th).
Meanwhile, even though Allen East scored an imposing 59 points on Saturday, Kenton still came out on top. Kenton walked away with a 68-59 victory over the Mustangs.
Van Wert dropped their record down to 3-15 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Kenton, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Everything came up roses for Van Wert against the Wildcats when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 66-37 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Van Wert since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
