On the hitting side, Glenbard North let Tru Medina and Maddy Woitas run wild. Medina scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Woitas went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Those three hits gave Woitas a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Kozlovsky, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Glenbard North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, York narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Addison Trail 7-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Dukes.
Sophia Lanciloti looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, York got a massive performance out of Lillianah (Lilly) Burda, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Sara Steinecker, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Glenbard North's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for York, their record is now 10-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Glenbard North hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 2.1 home runs per game. However, it's not like York struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Glenbard North might still be hurting after the 9-2 loss they got from York when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
