South Pasadena has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the La Canada Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Pasadena knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully La Canada likes a good challenge.
South Pasadena scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 112-76 win over San Marino at home. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
South Pasadena can attribute much of their success to Russell Williams, who scored 21 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds, and Derek Peterson, who went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 31 points and 7 assists. The matchup was Williams' eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Miles Nowe, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, La Canada's three-game losing streak came to an end on Wednesday. They blew past Temple City 82-30 at home. That looming 82-30 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for La Canada yet this season.
South Pasadena pushed their record up to 7-1 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 45 points. As for La Canada, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-7.
South Pasadena might still be hurting after the 74-51 defeat they got from La Canada when the teams last played back in January. Can South Pasadena avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
