The Washburn Millers will head out on the road to take on the Edina Hornets at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Washburn is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Washburn is headed into the contest having just posted their closest win since April 30th on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over Minneapolis South. The Millers haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Jackson Karn made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Karn was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Jack Moyer was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
Washburn kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.
Edina couldn't beat Maple Grove on Thursday even though they stacked five runs on them in the seventh inning. The Hornets fell 12-8 to the Crimson. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Bode McConnell was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Edina: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-7-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jackson McGrath, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Washburn's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Edina, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8-1.
Washburn beat Edina 11-7 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Millers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
