The Wellington Wolverines were the 41-29 winner over the Boynton Beach Tigers when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Wellington fell 50-38 to Boynton Beach on Wednesday. Wellington found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and rack up 11 fewer assists than your opponent.
Madison Smith and Jazmin Jezewski certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Smith dropped a double-double on 13 points and 20 rebounds, while Jezewski scored ten points. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for her.
Boynton Beach got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ti'esha Davis out in front who scored 20 points along with eight assists. Davis set a new season high mark in blocks with two. Another player making a difference was Rebeca Jean , who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds.
Wellington now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Boynton Beach, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Wellington will be playing in front of their home fans against Olympic Heights at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Olympic Heights is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Boynton Beach, they will head out on the road to face off against Royal Palm Beach at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Royal Palm Beach will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 508th, while Boynton Beach is ranked 182nd).
