Wesclin really took it to Sparta for the full four quarters, racking up a 60-27 victory at home. That 33 points margin sets a new team best for Wesclin this season.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Liberti Johnson, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Serenity Richardson, who scored six points.
Wesclin's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-10. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Sparta, they have fallen quite a ways from their 17-8 record last season and are now at 4-12.
Wesclin will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Steeleville at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd. As for Sparta, they will head out on the road to square off against Red Bud at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Red Bud presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sparta in Illinois (Red Bud is ranked 274th, while Sparta is ranked 573rd).
