It was a good run, but the Friendship Christian Falcons unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 60-59 to Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill. Friendship Christian has not had much luck with the Lion recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Friendship Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Eugene Amadi, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Amadi has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Hunter Peed, who scored 17 points along with six assists.
Even though they lost, Friendship Christian were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill only racked up eight assists.
It was another big night for Kyren Smith, who shot 4-for-10 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 41 points and ten rebounds for Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill. That makes it five consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least a third of Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill's points. Zachary Powery was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Friendship Christian's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7. As for Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill, they pushed their record up to 13-7 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Friendship Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill will head out on the road to challenge the Colts at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Crossroads Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday.
