Basketball Recap: Mile High Academy Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Mile High Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They took down the Twin Peaks Classical Academy Timberwolves 51-34. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 54-31 victory the Timberwolves walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Mile High Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Addy Dodds, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards. Kylie Helm was another key player, going 7-for-16 to rack up 19 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Mile High Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive games.

Kaleigh Van Pelt and Cleo Baker certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Van Pelt dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 steals, while Baker posted 14 points along with eight boards and five steals. Baker has become a key player for Twin Peaks Classical Academy: the team is 7-3 when she posts at least three steals, but 2-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Elizabeth Zeh, who put up four points and eight rebounds.

Mile High Academy pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.3 points over those games. As for Twin Peaks Classical Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-6.

Mile High Academy has already played their next matchup, a 42-35 defeat against Andrews Academy on the 12th. As for Twin Peaks Classical Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 40-31 loss against Loveland Classical on the 12th.
