Despite the defeat, Vanguard College Prep saw an underclassman step up: Gustavo Mora scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Michael Muriithi, who scored 5 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals.
Vanguard College Prep struggled to work together and finished the game with only a assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Big Valley Christian racked up 19.
Big Valley Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Solomon Paris, who scored 19 points along with 5 steals. Titus Boone was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Vanguard College Prep and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Big Valley Christian, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Vanguard College Prep will square off against Elliot Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Big Valley Christian will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Riverbank at 8:00 p.m. on November 30th. Riverbank is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
