The Page Pirates fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They secured a 25-21 W over Northern Guilford on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Page also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.
Dyvion Barley was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 147 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry. Anthone Peele got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Northern Guilford's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Jaxson Kemp, who threw for 256 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.
Page has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season. As for Northern Guilford, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Page will head out on the road to face off against Grimsley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Grimsley has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 368 points over their last seven games. As for Northern Guilford, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Western Guilford at 7:00 p.m. Western Guilford will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 271st, while Northern Guilford is ranked 134th).
