Even though the Williamsburg Academy Stallions have not done well against the Thomas Sumter Academy Generals recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Williamsburg Academy claimed a resounding 79-34 victory over Thomas Sumter Academy on the road. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Williamsburg Academy also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Williamsburg Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Wes Smith out in front who scored 22 points. Another player making a difference was Corey Burts, who scored 17 points.
Despite the defeat, Thomas Sumter Academy had strong showings from Christian Williams, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds, and Porter Barrineau, who scored nine points. The contest was Williams' third in a row with at least ten points.
Williamsburg Academy's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Thomas Sumter Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Williamsburg Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against King's Academy at 7:30 p.m. on December 5th.
