The Miramonte Matadors pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 70-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ygnacio Valley. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Wednesday (57), Miramonte still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Miramonte lost, one person who can't be blamed is Marcus Robinson. Despite the final result, he scored 25 points. Robinson has been hot recently, having posted 21 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Kaufhold, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and six assists.
Ygnacio Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Loyal Morris led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. Antonio Kellogg Jr was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Miramonte has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-10 record this season. As for Ygnacio Valley, they pushed their record up to 20-6 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Miramonte will face off against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Ygnacio Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
