George Wythe is 0-10 against Auburn since May of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Maroons will be playing at home against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
George Wythe is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Bland County 20-11 on Tuesday. With that win, the Maroons brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.

Cade Bralley made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Bralley was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. George Wythe is 3-1 when Bralley posts three or more hits, but 0-6-1 otherwise.
In other batting news, Caden Golliher was a standout: he got on base in five of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases, five runs, and one RBI. Cam Skeens was another key player, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
George Wythe kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Auburn came tearing into Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Pioneers get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. The Eagles' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three contests.
Auburn's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for George Wythe, their win ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-7-1.
George Wythe might still be hurting after the 16-1 defeat they got from Auburn in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Maroons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
