The St. Henry Redskins will head out on the road to face off against the Eaton Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. St. Henry has given up an average of 11 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
St. Henry was handed a 13-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out New Bremen 16-14. The victory was some much needed relief for the Redskins as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Leah Lefeld was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Lefeld was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Natalie Schwieterman was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rya Buschur, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
St. Henry was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. Their batting average was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .389 that New Bremen posted.
Meanwhile, Eaton hadn't done well against Carlisle recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 9-1 win.
Meredith Pieratt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Madison Copper, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Statzer, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Eaton, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
St. Henry came up short against Eaton in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 8-4. Can the Redskins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
