On Friday, Dec. 18 the MaxPreps travel team made its way to
Washington Township High School in Sewell, New Jersey to recognize the boys soccer team and celebrate their selection for the 11th Annual Tour of Champions, which is in its fifth year honoring soccer.
Washington Township finished with a high national ranking and its second consecutive Group IV state title. The Minutemen finished the season 25-1-1 and in the two championship seasons the program has a combined record of 51-2-1. The Washington Township boys soccer program did not seem to skip a beat after losing four first-team All-South Jersey players from last year’s roster.

According to the MaxPreps computer rankings, Washington Township’s performance this season placed them among the top 10 soccer teams in the nation. Of the 10,000+ boys soccer programs in the nation, MaxPreps ranked the Minutemen No. 9 in the country, and No. 1 in New Jersey.
After hearing that the Minutemen would be a part of this select and elite group of soccer teams, head coach Shane Snyder could not have been more appreciative. "We are very excited for this recognition. This was a complete team effort,” he said.
During the community ceremony, a highlight video of the Minutemen's 2015 season was shown to everyone in attendance. The video reaffirmed that Washington Township is truly a special team and well deserving of this prestigious award.
Once the video ended, Sergeant First Class Richard DiPalma of the New Jersey State Army National Guard spoke for a few moments and congratulated the team on their accomplishments. He also expressed that it was an honor and a special presentation for him as he grew up in Washington Township community.
Next, SFC DiPalma proudly presented the Army National Guard national ranking trophy to head coach Shane Snyder and the team. Coach Snyder concluded the ceremony by thanking everyone in attendance and those who showed their support throughout the season. The entire team then gathered together and took formal photos with the Minuteman trophy and Tour of Champions national ranking banner.
