Baseball Game Preview: Burrillville Broncos vs. Central Knights

The Burrillville Broncos will square off against the Central Knights at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Burrillville is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

Burrillville came out on top against Toll Gate on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fifth inning. The Broncos put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 11-4 victory.

Adam DeCesare was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Logan Gelinas, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Jordan Furtado was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Burrillville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Toll Gate only managed five hits.

Meanwhile, Central lost 13-3 to St. Raphael Academy on Thursday. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Central saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maikel Soriano, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Burrillville's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 4-2.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Burrillville has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts.
