Palmetto Ridge is 1-9 against Immokalee since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Palmetto Ridge Bears will take on the Immokalee Indians at 7:00 p.m. Palmetto Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Palmetto Ridge beat Ida Baker 13-9. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bears.
Tessa Delashmet was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jenahya Soto was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Teagan Delashmet was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Palmetto Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Immokalee gave up the first runs last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Aubrey Rogers.
Immokalee also got a great performance from Aniyah Martinez as she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sophia Silguero, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. Yazmin Herrera also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
The win got Immokalee back to even at 3-3. As for Palmetto Ridge, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Palmetto Ridge came up short against Immokalee in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, falling 4-0. Can Palmetto Ridge avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
