Baker is 1-9 against the Jaguars since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Baker Gators will head out on the road to challenge the Central Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Friday, Baker came up short against the Panthers and fell 36-25. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Baker in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, Central unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 51-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pace.
Despite the defeat, Central saw an underclassman step up: Lily Mathews shot 5-for-6 from deep and dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mathews has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lakin Mathews, who scored 13 points.
Baker's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-10.
Baker took a serious blow against the Jaguars in their previous matchup back in January of 2022, falling 51-7. Thankfully for Baker, Haley Abel (who scored 15 points along with three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
