The Burlington Wildcats won the last time they faced the Osawatomie Trojans, and things went their way on Thursday too. Burlington walked away with a 52-45 victory over Osawatomie. Given Burlington's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while Osawatomie is ranked 230th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jasper Sallee, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Tucker Fennel, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Osawatomie struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Burlington is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Osawatomie, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.
Burlington will be playing at home against Independence on Tuesday. As for Osawatomie, they will head out on the road to square off against Uniontown at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
