It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Shawnee ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Northwestern Warriors by a score of 7-4. Winning may never get old, but the Braves sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Alee Trimmer spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ava George was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Byanca Dubie also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Shawnee's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Northwestern, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.
