The East Duplin Panthers suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Thursday. They were dealt a 87-53 loss at the hands of James Kenan. While losing is never fun, East Duplin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 632nd, while James Kenan is ranked 247th).
Despite the loss, East Duplin still got an impressive performance from Calvin Harper, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds. Brandon Scarborough was another key contributor, scoring four points along with seven rebounds.
East Duplin's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-10. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.6 points per game. As for James Kenan, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Duplin and Swansboro will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Swansboro has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 773 points over their last ten matches. As for James Kenan, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against North Lenoir at 8:00 p.m. North Lenoir is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
