Basketball Recap: Whitehall-Yearling Now 11-1 over Last 12 Games

There's no place like home for Whitehall-Yearling, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They walked away with a 62-52 victory over the Bishop Ready Silver Knights on Tuesday. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while the Silver Knights are ranked 475th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Whitehall-Yearling to victory were Jayla Dukes and Kyeona Myers. Dukes went 12 for 19 on her way to 29 points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Myers went 8 of 13 en route to 22 points in addition to eight boards and six assists. That's the most points Dukes has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Jackson, who posted seven points.

Despite the defeat, Bishop Ready saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jenna Wolf dropped a double-double on 29 points and 17 boards. Those 29 points set a new season-high mark for Wolf. Kyra Tibbs also deserves some recognition as she scored her first point of the season.

Whitehall-Yearling is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Bishop Ready, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.

Whitehall-Yearling has already played their next matchup, a 67-46 win against Grandview Heights on the 1st. As for Bishop Ready, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 40-35 victory against Fisher Catholic on the 3rd.
