The Southern Nash Firebirds won the last time they faced the Bunn Wildcats, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Southern Nash came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wildcats and snuck past 52-50.
Southern Nash's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but George Richardson led the charge by scoring seven points along with 13 rebounds and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Richardson posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Hartsfield, who scored 17 points.
Defeat or not, Bunn got some senior leadership from Domantea Cooke and Jameir Strickland. Cooke scored 17 points along with five steals and two blocks, while Strickland. dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Cooke is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight.
Southern Nash's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-10. As for Bunn, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southern Nash will challenge the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bunn will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Rams at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd.
