Nueva Esperanza has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on Penn Treaty at 3:15 a.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
After only 25 points in their last match, Nueva Esperanza made sure to put some points up on the board against Bodine on Tuesday. Nueva Esperanza came out on top against Bodine by a score of 65-56.
Meanwhile, even though Prep Charter scored an imposing 59 points on Tuesday, Penn Treaty still came out on top. Penn Treaty snuck past Prep Charter with a 65-59 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Penn Treaty.
Penn Treaty's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Heavon Washington led the charge by scoring 19 points. Another player making a difference was Tyler Williamson-Brown, who scored 15 points.
Nueva Esperanza's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-8. As for Penn Treaty, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Nueva Esperanza beat Penn Treaty 54-42 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Nueva Esperanza since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
