Tabernacle is 0-3 against the Eagles since January of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Tabernacle Torches will be playing at home against the Cornerstone Christian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Tabernacle narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Warriors 34-32. Given Tabernacle's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 165th, while the Warriors are ranked 332nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Cornerstone Christian waltzed into their match on Thursday with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They walked away with a 42-35 win over Providence Classical.
Cornerstone Christian found their leader in underclassman Tamia Ballard, who scored 18 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Ballard is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Kendall Coots was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.
The win got Tabernacle back to even at 4-4. As for Cornerstone Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-2 record this season.
Tabernacle came up short against the Eagles in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 40-33. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Ballard, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine steals. Now that Tabernacle knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
