3A Region II District 11 recap Oct. 30, 2012
Madison moved up to 460 from 508 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 3A Region II District 11. The Trojans climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Roosevelt 35-0.
Javaughn Thurmon and Javaughn Thurmon gave Ferris a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Thurmon threw for 100 yards and one touchdown, while Thurmon ran for 125 yards. Teammate Jay Foster added to the ground attack by rushing for 19 yards.
Tarrin Mitchell was the best wideout in the league this week as the Mustangs lost to Madison. Mitchell tallied six receptions for 110 yards. Dailen Powell helped Roosevelt's passing attack out by catching one ball for four yards.
Wilmer-Hutchins's Justin Halter and Christian Hicks have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Halter has thrown for 831 yards this season, while Hicks, a 5-foot-8 receiver, has 19 catches for 405 yards. Foster from the Yellowjackets leads the league in rushing with 759 yards.
A big matchup in 3A Region II District 11 this week will be when Ferris takes on Roosevelt. Aaron Emeyabbi's team is in second place, while Wayne Ingram's team is in fourth place.
Dwayne Johnson's team led the league in scoring this week after putting up 35 points on the Mustangs.
