The Issaquah Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Lake Washington Kangaroos at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Issaquah has three straight victories, Lake Washington has 17 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Issaquah came out on top against Jackson on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Eagles took their matchup against the Timberwolves 7-4.
Shae Erickson (2027) made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Erickson (2027) was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Giorgia Graham (2027) was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Sadie Huryn (2025) was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Issaquah hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.
Skyline hit Lake Washington with a four-run first inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Kangaroos lost 14-3 to the Spartans.
Elise Roe was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one run. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Malia Donohue, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Issaquah pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Lake Washington, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-15.
Lake Washington's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Issaquah has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Lake Washington, though, as they've been averaging 8.8 hits. Given Issaquah's sizable advantage in that area, the Kangaroos will need to find a way to close that gap.
Issaquah skirted past Lake Washington 7-6 in their previous meeting on April 2nd. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
