4A Region I District 5 recap September 4, 2013
Dagen Haehn and Josh Jackson provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Pearce. The connection went for 71 yards, the longest such play in 4A Region I District 5 this season.
Rider was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Cooper. The Raiders came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 36 last week.
Lake Dallas's dynamic duo of Haehn and Jackson proved tough for the Mustangs to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Haehn threw for 243 yards and 4 touchdowns and Jackson had 212 yards receiving. Keegan Brewer helped Lake Dallas' passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 48 yards.
The Falcons' dynamic duo of Haehn and Jackson proved to be unstoppable against Pearce, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Haehn put up the best numbers through the air as Lake Dallas defeated Randy Robertson's team.
Jamie King provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Azle defeated Burleson. He completed 13 passes for 256 yards and 3 touchdowns and also ran for 63 yards. King's favorite target this week was Tyler Albers, who caught 5 passes for 85 yards.
Christian Gibson was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 131 yards on 11 carries as Brewer topped the Mustangs. Teammate Metric Burleson added to the ground attack by rushing for 74 yards.
Jackson was the best wideout in the league this week as the Falcons defeated Pearce.
He went 18-32 with 1 interceptions.
Jackson had a great week catching the football as Lake Dallas topped the Mustangs.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Jackson. The Lake Dallas star has 9 catches for 212 yards.
Byron Nelson was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to third in 4A Region I District 5. Earlier in the week, the Bobcat triumphed over Timber Creek 16-13.
