Basketball Recap: Cardinal Newman Snags Fifth Victory in Last Six Games

Cardinal Newman won the last time they faced Jensen Beach, and Ismael Joseph did his part to make sure it happened again. The Cardinal Newman Crusaders came out on top against the Jensen Beach Falcons by a score of 53-46 on Saturday thanks in part to Joseph, who went 9 for 14 en route to 23 points along with five boards and three steals. Those 23 points gave him a new career-high.

Despite the loss, Jensen Beach saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Vari Newson dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 boards set a new season-high mark for Newson. Cordell Wilkins was another key player, putting up 11 points and five rebounds.

Cardinal Newman has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. As for Jensen Beach, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.

Cardinal Newman didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 53-42 victory against Park Vista on the 29th. As for Jensen Beach, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 74-60 loss against Central on the 28th.
