The Mead Mavericks will face off against the Windsor Wizards at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Mead is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Mead had just enough and edged out Silver Creek 6-4.
Kaleb Walter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits.

On the hitting side, Edison Burke and Stryker Leick did most of the damage at the plate: Burke went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Leick went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave Leick a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Willie Eilers, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Windsor). They never let Greeley West get on the board and left with a 17-0 win on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Wizards sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Windsor got a massive performance out of Ethan Fillinger, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Teegan Cole was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Windsor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .724. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Windsor pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Mead, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Mead has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Windsor struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Mead might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Windsor in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Mavericks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
