On Friday, The St. John Bosco Braves faced the JSerra Catholic Lions in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Everything went St. John Bosco's way against JSerra Catholic as St. John Bosco made off with a 42-20 win. The result was nothing new for St. John Bosco, who have now won seven games by 20 points or more so far this season.
Among those leading the charge was Caleb Sanchez, who threw for 316 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.7 yards per attempt. St. John Bosco also got help from Owen Tomich who showed off his sure hands for 116 receiving yards.
St. John Bosco's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. Leading the way was Dutch Horisk and his two sacks.
The victory (which was St. John Bosco's fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.0 points per game. As for JSerra Catholic, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. John Bosco will face off against Orange Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Orange Lutheran will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps National Rankings (they are ranked 75th, while St. John Bosco is ranked third). As for JSerra Catholic, they will head out on the road to face off against Servite at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Servite will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
