The Academy of the New Church Lions came tearing into Friday's match with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Friends' Central 64-50. Academy of the New Church pushed the score to 52-30 by the end of the third, a deficit Friends' Central cut but never quite recovered from.
Bahsil Laster was his usual excellent self, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Smith, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Several Friends' Central players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Fazl Oshodi, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Oshodi continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Reid Belcher was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with four steals.
Academy of the New Church has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. As for Friends' Central, their loss dropped their record down to 18-5.
Academy of the New Church does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Friends' Central also has no future games currently scheduled.
