Even though the Marian Crusaders have not done well against the Omaha Westside Warriors recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Marian walked away with a 52-43 victory over the Warriors. The win made it back-to-back wins for Marian.
Elsa Vedral was her usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Paige Miller, who scored five points along with three steals.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kimora Jenkins, who scored eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elise Pederson, who scored five points along with five rebounds and five blocks.
Omaha Westside struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Marian pulled down 12 offensive rebounds.
Marian's victory bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Omaha Westside, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-9.
Marian will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Lynx at 7:00 p.m. Lincoln will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 134th in Iowa, while the Crusaders are ranked 37th in Nebraska). As for Omaha Westside, they will head out on the road to face off against the Knights at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln Southeast will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive.
