For the first time this season, Florence will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will face off against the Seton Catholic Sentinels at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Florence's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Seton Catholic's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Florence took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Show Low, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Gophers skirted past the Cougars 8-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Gophers.

The team relied heavily on Wyatt Stenson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Brody Ramirez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Seton Catholic). They put the hurt on Mesa with a sharp 17-7 win on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Sentinels, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Chase Ries was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and three runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Mulligan, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
Seton Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive contests.
Florence's record is now 10-1. As for Seton Catholic, their record now sits at 9-2.
Florence couldn't quite get it done against Seton Catholic in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 as they fell 3-0. Can the Gophers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
