Broomfield is 1-0 against Fruita Monument since October of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Broomfield Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Fruita Monument Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
Last Friday, Broomfield humbled Adams City with a 56-8 victory. Broomfield pushed the score to 56-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Adams City cut but never quite recovered from.
Caleb Meehan was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 59 yards and two touchdowns. Brendan Fritch got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Fruita Monument got themselves on the board against Aurora Central on Thursday, but Aurora Central never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Trojans 54-0 on the road. Given Fruita Monument's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Aurora Central is ranked 156th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Andres Palafox and Amari Wilson were among the main playmakers for Fruita Monument as the former gained 102 total yards and two touchdowns and the latter rushed for 65 yards and two touchdowns. Wilson is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last six games he's played.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 6-2.
Broomfield was able to grind out a solid win over Fruita Monument in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, winning 21-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for Broomfield since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
