Basketball Recap: Prestonsburg Piles Up the Points Against Phelps

A well-balanced attack led Prestonsburg over Phelps in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Prestonsburg Blackcats blew the Phelps Hornets out of the water with a 61-30 final score. The Blackcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 22 points or more this season.

When it comes to explaining why Phelps lost, don't look at Caleigh McCoy. Despite the final result, she went 5-for-11 en route to 15 points. McCoy's evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points.

Prestonsburg has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 20-13 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points over those games. Phelps' defeat dropped their record down to 19-10.

Prestonsburg wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 62-36 loss against Johnson Central on the 6th. Phelps does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
