For the first time this season, Eastern Guilford will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. After each having a week off, they and the Southeast Guilford Falcons will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Eastern Guilford put up the most points they have all season last Friday. They really took it to Orange for the full four quarters, racking up a 35-0 win. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 104th, while the Panthers are ranked 317th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Southeast Guilford didn't have too much trouble with Glenn last Friday as they won 34-20. The Falcons pushed the score to 27-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bobcats cut but never quite recovered from.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Southeast Guilford's defense and their six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Amir Lyles and Janeel Folkes, who racked up four sacks between them. Folkes also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with eight. Terrance Norwood was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 11 total tackles.
Eastern Guilford now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Southeast Guilford, they now also have a winning record of 3-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Eastern Guilford has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 163.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Southeast Guilford struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 263 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Eastern Guilford lost to Southeast Guilford at home by a decisive 32-14 margin in their previous meeting back in March of 2021. Thankfully for the Wildcats, Jalen Fairley (who rushed for 344 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 9.8 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
