The Cary Imps will head out on the road to face off against the Apex Friendship Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cary is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, Cary came up short against Holly Springs and fell 60-49. While losing is never fun, Cary can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 378th, while Holly Springs is ranked 77th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Rayshone Gullatt, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Simon Eyob, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though Pinecrest scored an imposing 55 points on Monday, Apex Friendship still came out on top. Apex Friendship skirted past Pinecrest 58-55. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Apex Friendship has posted yet this season.
Cary has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for Apex Friendship, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.
Cary didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Apex Friendship in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 68-62 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cary since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
