Leading Chaputnguak to victory were Felagai Laumea and Ashton Matthew. Laumea scored 25 points, while Matthew scored 29 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Matthew has scored all season. Robert Jimmy II was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Nelson Island lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brennan Lincoln, who scored 26 points. Lincoln is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 26 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Johnny Nicholai, who scored 18 points.
Chaputnguak's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points per game. As for Nelson Island, their loss dropped their record down to 13-6.
Chaputnguak will head out on the road to take on Akula Elitnaurvik at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Alaska (Chaputnguak is ranked 60th, while Akula Elitnaurvik is ranked 53rd).
