The Eaton Reds were the 51-46 winner over the Kent Denver Sun Devils when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Eaton fell just short of Kent Denver by a score of 51-49. While losing is never fun, Eaton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while Kent Denver is ranked 43rd).
Eaton's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Tayla Wiedeman, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and three steals, and Courtney Steinkamp who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds. The matchup was Wiedeman's fifth in a row with at least ten points.
Kent Denver was led to victory by Caroline Phillips and Anya Peper. Phillips scored 15 points along with six steals, while Peper scored 20 points.
Eaton now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Kent Denver, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eaton will take on Peak to Peak at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Peak to Peak focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Saturday. As for Kent Denver, they will be playing at home against Middle Park at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
