Basketball Recap: Landon Mayne Key Part of a Team Effort in Indians Win

Grand Saline hadn't done well against Edgewood recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Grand Saline Indians managed a 66-60 victory over the Edgewood Bulldogs. The Indians have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bulldogs, too.

Grand Saline's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Landon Mayne led the charge by going 8 of 16 on his way to 21 points along with six boards and five assists. Mayne has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kolton Prox, who posted 12 points and seven rebounds.

Grand Saline is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Edgewood, they moved to 12-12 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

As for Edgewood, they will square off against Quitman at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Edgewood is facing Quitman at the right time seeing as Quitman is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
