Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the O'Dea Fighting Irish walked away with it. They took their match at home on Saturday with ease, bagging a 45-13 victory over Garfield. O'Dea's win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead O'Dea to victory, but perhaps none more so than Antone Araujo, who rushed for 69 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, and also threw for 30 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Brown jr, who rushed for 153 yards while picking up 8.1 yards per carry.
O'Dea's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. Zach Proctor was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
O'Dea pushed their record up to 11-0 with that victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.33 points. As for Garfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
O'Dea will take on Bellevue at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bellevue knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matchups -- so hopefully O'Dea likes a good challenge. Garfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
