On Saturday, the Shiprock Chieftains faced the Bloomfield Bobcats in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Shiprock was outmatched by Bloomfield on the road and fell 57-18. Shiprock has struggled against Bloomfield recently, as their game on Saturday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Shiprock still got an impressive performance from Avayia Etcitty, who scored 16 points.
Bloomfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aliya Quintana led the charge by dropping a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. The game was Quintana's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Delanna Russell was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with 7 rebounds.
Shiprock's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Bloomfield, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shiprock will take on Newcomb at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bloomfield, they will look to defend their home court on December 11th against Pojoaque Valley at 7:00 p.m.
