It was a good run, but The Pequannock Golden Panthers unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 14-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lakeland Regional. Pequannock was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lakeland Regional apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
Despite the loss, Pequannock saw an underclassman step up: Dylan Roemmele rushed for 123 yards on only 15 carries. Roemmele was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards.
Lakeland Regional's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Collin Sabric, who threw for 100 yards and a touchdown while completing 84.6% of his passes. Lakeland Regional also got a significant boost from Jeremy O'hernandez, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 85 yards.
Pequannock's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Lakeland Regional, their win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-3.
Pequannock does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lakeland Regional is on the road again on Friday and play against Caldwell. Caldwell knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Lakeland Regional likes a good challenge.
